A personal project I undertook was to reimagine Chanel's brand identity for their range of fragrances. I did not want to focus on one particular product but to look at the brand's history as a whole.
I chose two ideas, one was to use an image of an old ornate one-armed bandit which I felt was a really beautiful statement piece and also had an ambiguity to it which I felt was very in keeping with Chanel's general ethos. The second was to incorporate an iconic person, who had the same timelessness that the Chanel brand has become synonymous with since it's early campaigns with stars who have since become icons. The incorporation of the playing card drew together both ideas and harked back to an era of James Bond / Casinos / dressing for the occasion.
